Day 4
3rd Nov 2023
Khong Chiam to Sam Phan Bok
We left Khong Chiam for Sam Phan Bok On hired car. Part of the deal was sightseeing alon the way.
On the way to SPB, we visited the Pha Taem National Park. The attraction here is the 3000 years old pre historic wall painting in the caves.
Wall paintingRock plateau and hill dominate the park with irregular shaped sandstone. There are many cliffs around the park.
A good view of Mekong River
Our next itinerary in the Park is Sao Chaliang. A unique sandstone shaped like mushroom, carved out by the element of nature. Geologists believe this place used to be a dried up ocean millions years ago.
Next visit was Sang Chan waterfall. It is unique as water pours out of a giant hole.
Next visit was Thung Na waterfall. As it is in dry season, the waterfall was weak.
We arrived at Plaifah Resort in the late afternoon. Sam Phan Bok is a sleepy laid back place. Most of the tourists that do come here were mostly locals from the big cities. The sole attraction is the bore holes along the Mekong. They are only visible in the dried season after November.
