Day 11

Quy Nhon

Quy Nhon is pronounced "kwee nearn" It's a Provincial city with a population of half a million.  Not many people heard of this city.

The drive last night from the bus station to the city centre went through busy and narrow roads clogged with pedestrians,  motorcycles and cars with shops on lower level in 2 to 3 storeys terrace houses.

As the taxi entered the city centre, the roads are wide and the bright lighting transformed this place into a modern city.

I took a walk in the city centre and I feel this place resembles the Champ-Elysees of Paris. The very wide boulevard, separated by wide divider lined with lighted palm trees.

On both sides of the boulevard are parks with pedestrians walkways where people can relax and children can play.

Notably, I saw for the first time a digital clock tower at a big roundabout.

The are also many brightly lighted displays.

There was a small lakes where it looks like our Singapore River and Boat Quay where revellers sat for drinks.

Morning walk around Quy Nhon. I started the walk at around 6.30am. The sunrise was 5.30 here.

I walked around the old town. Railway Station was nearby.

Nearby there was a supersize roundabout, like those in European capitals with a large monument, Quang Trung Statue.

I saw both the old and new town, Like Singapore you can see the difference between South Bride Road and Shenton way.

There's also a harbour front overlooking the calm  lagoon "Dam Thi Nai". It wasn't busy at all, only one catamaran at the jetty. It's only 8 am, and the weather is very hot and I was sweating profusely.

The harbour front and the esplanade.

The  metal bridge over the Ha Thanh River and the fishing port

Notice the "super tree" and the look alike Merlion, maybe should be called "merdragon"

The train SE29 from Quy Nhon departed for Ninh Hoa at 1250. Only seat left at the time of booking were the 6 beds cabin.

The train is very old and the interior is worn. The route was scenic.

I arrived at Ninh Hoa Station at 5.30pm and took a private taxi to Haong Gia Hotel at Doc Let Beach. This is a remote beach.

Managed to complete most of this blog on the train
