The Pic
du Midi de Bigorre or simply the Pic du Midi (altitude 2,877 m
(9,439 ft)) is a mountain in the French Pyrenees famous for its Pic du Midi Observatory
Today weather was really wonderful with clear blue sky and the drive up to La Mongie was scenic.
To go to the
peak, we have to board the cable car at La Mongie. It's a two stages gondola
Pic du Midi are a great tourist lookout. From the top, you can
discover and embrace the whole of the Pyrenees, Catalonia to the Basque
Country. From east to west, the horizon opens with over 300 km of mountains.
From the big terrace, the eye plunges north across the plain to the southwest
foothills of the Massif
Central. Orientation tables show the main peaks that can be admired in
this giant panorama.
After enjoying the panoramic views from the Pyrenees, we
descended through mountain side village and head to Lac de Payolle. Ate our
self made sandwiches before heading to Pau.
We had coffee break at Pau and walked around the city.
We continued to drive westward towards the Atlantic Ocean and
planned to stay the night in western coastal town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
