Hahaha...….This is my version of Journey to the West. 西遊. But the only commonality is that there are four of us travelling towards the west, climbing mountains, crossing valleys and walking over desert. Otherwise none of us are any closer to the characters in this classic Chinese novel.
None of us possess the wisdom and holiness of Tang Sanzang. The magical skills and wits of the legendary Sun Wukong (孫悟空) or the humility of Zhu Bajie(pigsy)(豬八戒) and honesty of Sha Wujing (沙悟浄)
That said, let begin to record my journey to the West.
Departed Singapore with brother Bobby, SIL Mavis and nephew Chris for 15 days trip to Central China.
The flight departed Singapore close to midnight for a 6 hours journey to Beijing. Thereafter another 2 hours transit before catching a domestic flight for 2 hours to Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia.
My brother has arranged a car, Buick model with driver,Xiaowang. He is a native of Ningxia and will be with us for the entire 4000 km of driving through Ningxia, Qinghai and Gansu Province.
Our tour will bring us to view historical sites to enable us better understand and appreciate Chinese history and civilization. Sightseeing will take most of the time. Majority of my itineraries planned are off track to tour companies. The scenic sites are chosen for its uniqueness and beauty. My brother had put in a lot of effort and time to plan this trip. I am a very happy participant.
Yes, I am getting excited and looking forward not only to view new places, but also spending time with my brother and his family.
