MELBOURNE
WITH HUI YING-OCTOBER 2009

Melbourne
Ying was in
her second year in Monash University in Melbourne. I had a week leave to clear
and so decided to spend some time with her and also checked her wellbeing.
I bunked in
with her in an apartment along Waverley Road during my week stay in Melbourne. The apartment is near her Clayton Campus. Her
term semester was still ongoing so we only had the weekend together to drive out of
Melbourne. It's spring in Melbourne and the weather was still chilly.
3 Oct 2009,
Saturday.
We drove south to Portsea along the coastal
road through Frankston, Mornington and Sorrento. This area was one of the
historical landmarks where early European settlers made their landings. Today
it is one of the more expensive land estates with many expensive beach properties
Lunch at “Fed-Up Fish CafĂ©” on the way to Portsea.
We stopped at
Sorrento and wandered around, viewed the pier and walked along the beach
and the woods behind the beach.
There was a lighthouse and park nearby
Ying drove back to Melbourne. First time on the wheels after obtaining her driving license.
She had to
attend her University Mid-Summer Lantern Festival and I went back to her apartment.
She kept a collage of our pet dog Lucky in her apartment.
4 Oct 2009, Sunday
We drove to Ballarat.

Ying drove
back to Melbourne. Like any new driver, the enthusiasm level was there.
