TUBING IN VANGVIENG

One of the popular attractions in Vang Vieng is tubing. You sit on a large rubber tube and float down the Nam Song River. Along the way, you can stop by at the bars along he river side and drink yourself crazy and then continue down the 5 km route.

When the water level in the river is high, a non-stop float down the river last about 1 hour. When water level is low during the dry season, it takes up to 3 hours to complete this journey.

Today, the water level was very low and the river flow was excruciatingly slow. It took us 4 hours to float down the river and the water was very cold and we were wet. At some point, we even had to hand paddle to move forward.

Nevertheless, it was a great experience. The scenery along the route was calm and peaceful with beautiful limestone karsts.
