At 5 a.m. Helsinki time, I was awake. My body must be still registering Singapore time. The ship was now in the Baltic Sea and there wasn't much traffic. I walked around the ship enjoying the chilly breeze. On the right side, the horizon has brightened up with a feint orange glow, signally a beginning of sunrise. The orange glow gradually intensify and by now the cloud over the horizon has taken a pinkish tone. Given ideal weather condition, sunrise seen from the sea can be awesome.
After watching sunrise, we proceed to ship restaurant for a sumptuous buffet breakfast. As we are facing the bow, we saw Helsinki creeping up over the horizon. The ship arrived at Helsinki Viking Terminal at around 10 a.m. What surprises me was the ship of this enormous size was able to berth herself with no tug boats assistance. More impressive was how the ship captain skillfully maneuvered the ship alongside, perfectly berthed this monstrous ship without a smallest bumped on the shipside and connected by aerobridge for disembarkation.
The afternoon was spent walking around Helsinki. We had fish soup and salmon steak for lunch. But rain caused us to discontinue our walk after lunch.
