Helsinki Suomenlinna Sea Fortress

9th Oct

Situated on the islands off the coast of Helsinki, Suomenlinna is a cultural treasure, an Unesco World Heritage Sites and the most popular tourist attractions in Finland. We took a 15 minutes ferry ride there.

Suomenlinna was a sea fortress dated back to the 18th century when it was still part of Sweden and was once surrendered to Russia. Today it is under the sovereign of Finland. It's strategic location was an obvious choice as a defense fortress for Sweden, Russia and Finland

Besides the big guns, this island has rocky sea shores, high grounds and wonderful landscape. Add on the colourful trees, well kept grass and beautiful residential houses, the scenery was just breath taking.
