Sabah Tawau Semporna Lahad Datu Sandakan

This trip has been planned some time ago. Last year I travelled the northern part of Sabah from Kota Kinabalu to the Tip of Borneo. So this time I will be travelling the southern coast of Sabah from Tawau, Semporna, Lahad Datu  to Sandakan. From there I will fly to Kota Kinabalu for a night stay

I flew Airasia AX 1794 Airbus 320 from Sin to KK. Transit to Tawau on AX6656 A320

As the plane descended through clouds in the dim dusk, I saw wide expanse of palm oil plantations as far as the eyes can see.

Tawau airport remind me of Seletar Airport in the 80s. It has one runway with no taxi way and no aerobridge.
