DAY 6 SEOUL DMZ
12 AUG 2010
The
demilitarized zone or DMZ is a border barrier that divides North and South
Korea. It was established to serve as a buffer zone brokered by United
Nation. The DMZ is 250km long and 4km
wide.
We joined an afternoon tour that took us to DMZ and
the War Memorial
Imjingak Park and Freedom Bridge. This is a temporary
wooden bridge erected across the Imjingang River in 1953 to bring home 12,773 S
Korea POWs. It now serves as a place of remembrance for their family in the
North.
Dora Observatory, view of North Korea from DMZ
Dorasan Train Station. The train that is to connect the north and south.
The Third Tunnel. Dug by the North Korean to infiltrate the South.
War Memorial of Korea
This visit concluded our tour. The next day after some shopping, we flew home.
