Borneo 24Aug to 6 Sept

This is the trip I had planned way back in the late 90s. I have always wanted to go to Mulu National Park to do the 3 days trek to the Pinnacles. Somehow it never happened as there are other better alternatives that the family can participate together.

This is going to be a 2 weeks solo trip.

The trip starts on Friday 24 Aug to Miri with a 2 nights stopovers. Then a 30 minutes flight on ATR72 operated by Maswings to Gunong Mulu National Park.

I will camped 4 nights at this park. Mainly trekking to about 4 caves, some jungle trekking to see the rich faunas, ride on the Long boat upriver to indigenous settlements to see their ways of life. Unfortunately, I have decided not to trek to the Pinnacles as it’s would be too strenuous for my age.

I return to Miri for 2 nights and planned to visit the Niah Caves where skeletons of early human beings dated back 40000 years and some other attractions nearby.

From Miri, I will take a bus to Bandar Seri Bengawan, capital of Brunei. This is the last of the 10 ASEAN countries I have yet to spend a night.

Following day I will take a 7 hours bus journey to Kota Kinabalu. My expected stay is 3 nights.

Looking forward for an enriching experience
