Lhasa to Chongqing

Our last itinerary in Lhasa was visiting a huge carving of Nietang Buddha on the mountain side on the way to Lhasa Gonggar airport. Lhasa River flow nearby.

We flew on Szehuan Airlines to Chongqing, arriving in the early afternoon.

The flight route was over the Tibetan Plateau into the Szechuan Basin. The flight time was about two hours and half.

In Chongqing, we had a short tour of Eling Park while waiting for the evening flight.

In the evening we flew back to Singapore concluding a memorable tour to Tibet, Roof of the World

SHIGATZE TO LHASA

The tour company cancelled a few itineraries in and around Gyantse yesterday because of roads closure. As a result we visited the Taishilunpo Monastery yesterday. Today, we returned to Lhasa from Shigatse. The journey was more than 6 hours. We took a good view of Tibet beautiful scenery as this visit is once in lifetime.

We also saw a mountain temple where the dead are left for the vultures in accordance with Tibetan tradition.

 

We stopped by a monastery halfway through our journey. I could not remember its name but could be Xiazhulin Temple.

We had lunch in local restaurants along the route.

Before arriving Lhasa, we went to Tibet museum. This museum depicts Tibetan history and culture and displays a vast collection of artifacts.

The lavish dinner tonight was held at an art theatre with a very colourful performance show casing Tibetan culture and arts.
