Bueng Kan and Nongkhai
The Bueng Kan Bus Terminal was within walking distance from our hotel. The journey to Nong Khai was about 2 hours, on roads close to Mekong River.
Nongkhai is the gateway to Vientiane, capital of Laos, via Friendship Bridge. Our home stay accommodation was Rim Riverside, it has a good view the Mekong.
Like most of the cities and towns along the Mekong, commercial activities are centred close to the river bank. Here there is the Indochina marketplace and Sadet Market. Many monuments and interesting sights are here too.
Naga Statue is the iconic landmark of Nongkhai on the rivet front.
Sunset over the Mekong was breathtaking. The atmospheric conditions was ideal for the sun to be entirely visible to the naked eye. We were just lucky that today sunset was awesome.
Walking Street was lively with strollers and was beautifully lighted up.
There was a night Market with long stretch of food and consumers wares vendors, adding buzz to Nongkhai Walking Street. Many restaurants and cafes offers variety of food are also located along this stretch of the road.
There are a couple of elegant Buddhist Temples located along the reverfront.
