Thailand Day 3 Mekong Valley 2023

Day 3

2 November 2023

Khong Chiam

We went to Kaeng Tana National Park by local transport. We walked along the bank of Mun River and had an awesome view of water gushing downstream over patches of rocks, carved into unique shape by the shear power of water.

Along the bank of the river and on the far side is Laos. So close one can swim across.

Kaeng Tana Park is endowed with many irregular shaped boulders as well a picturesque and tranquil forest.

Then we went to Tat Ton Waterfall, along the Tat Ton River. It's like a miniature Niagara Falls.

Upstream of the waterfall where Tat Ton River flows where beautiful water plant flourish.

Around the Waterfall, there are numerous bore holes of different shape. Many rock in Eastern Thailand are sandstone, where bore holes are carved by nature.

We returned to Khong Chiam and visited the majestic Wat Tham Khunha Sawan Buddhist Temple. Its a large complex with the biggest gong I have seen. This temple sits on the hill with a panoramic view of Mekong and Laos.
