Day 5
4th Nov 2023
Sam Phan Bok
San Phan Bok means 3000 holes.
We hired a river boat to view SPB.
SPB is basically a rock islet in the middle of Mekong River, which is completely submerged during wet season. It becomes visible during the dry season when the water level in Mekong River is low and many of these beautiful basins or holes created by water current become geological wonders. Very unique and beautiful. ⁰
The boat took us further downstream to view a large collection of natural rocks on another islet.
View of ancient tree, a landmark of SPB from the river.
The town of SBK is small, hardly any eateries. There are a few grocery shops along the main road. The wet market opens at 3 pm
We stayed at Plaifah Resort, a kilometre off the main road. Occupancy was low at this time. Transportation out of SPB is a real challenge.
