We visited Jiayuguan Historical Site. It was a very strategic military position that protect China western flank from the barbarian. Here is also the most western point  in the Great Wall of China.

From Wikipedia
Jiayu Pass or About this sound Jiayuguan  (simplified Chinese: 嘉峪关; traditional Chinese: 嘉峪關; pinyin: Jiāyù Guān) is the first frontier fortress at the west end of the Ming dynasty Great Wall of China, near the city of Jiayuguan in Gansu province. Along with Juyong Pass and Shanhai Pass, it is one of the main passes of the Great Wall

The pass is located at the narrowest point of the western section of the Hexi Corridor, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of the city of Jiayuguan in Gansu. The structure lies between two hills, one of which is called Jiayuguan Pass. It was built near an oasis that was then on the extreme western edge of China.

Next visit was the most western point of the GW. It's name as The First Stone in Chinese.  Here lies the ruins of the GW still stands.

The original Great Wall of China in its worn out state. Below the English name of this site is First Tower Beacon of the Great Wall. Couldn't search any information of this name!

After lunch, we drove to Zhangye. Along the way we visit a scenic spot off the town of Gaotai. Situated south of Heihe River is the majestic Chongwen Pagoda, facing the scenic Dahuwan Reservoir.

Once again, this place has only been opened recently. Apparently, it is going to be a resort with water based activities.

We enjoyed the tranquility of the place. The majestic pagodas surrounded by corn fields and lakes.
