We are at halfway mark. Today we leaved Dunhuang for Jiayuguan, about 350 km east. My nephew, Chris also ended his tour here and proceed to local airport for flight back to Singapore.
About 10 km north west of Jiayuguan, is the Overhanging Great Wall also call the Xuanbi GW. It is the remnants of the Western portion of the Great Wall of China. The wall was repaired so visitors can climb to the hill top observation tower for a bird eye view of the surroundings. The climb up was certainly physically challenging due to the steep gradient as well as the height. Nevertheless, it was truly satisfying making it up to the top.
I reached the peak. Yeah!!!!!

Due to time constraints, many planned itineraries to the north of North west of Dunhuang was cancelled. We wanted to slow down to a comfortable pace.
Tonight we stayed at Jiayuguan. A very important ancient settlement that guarded the ancient Chinese dynasties' western flank.

By now we are loosing our appetite for oily and spicy local food. We simply ordered dishes with plenty of vegetables.
