Zhuo'ershan, Qilian Mountain and Menyuan Canola Field.

7 Jul

This morning, it was early start. Our first destination was the Zhuo Er Mountains. Despite the overcast sky and light rain the views are awesome. Once again, it is climbing a mountain, has become a daily ritual. On the top of the mountain, there is an observation post, and in ancient time a military signaling post using smoke to provide early warning of enemies movement.

The climb to the top was pleasant on well constructed and maintained board walk. Unfortunately, the continuous rain was a mood dampener.

After lunch, we headed eastward for the Qilian Grassland. The drive was mainly along the valleys. After 50 km, we see miles and miles of grassland with green mountains on both sides habited by sheep and cattle.

We also drove over a mountain with the highest elevation of 3767m or 12,350 feet. There is a Tibetan temple at this location decorated with colourful blessing flags

We continued to drive south easterly towards Menyuan. Approaching this town, we see miles and miles of rapeseed with their bright yellow flowers in full bloom. The views are just spectacular.

We paid farmers a small fee to get closer to the canola field.

We stayed the night in a town call Qingshizuishen. The hotel room come with window overlooking
 the canola field.
