NEW ENGLAND / NIAGARA FALLS - OCT 2017
10 Oct to 25 Oct 2017
This was a
long vacation and had been in my travelling plan for a long time. A lot of effort was put into reading and research on New England’s autumn foliage, history and the Atlantic coast. Many of the places visited were early immigrant from England. Niagara Falls was included
in the vacation as it was always on my bucket list.
We flew on
SQ26 to New York Kennedy via Frankfurt with a flight time of over 20 hours.
Arriving
around noon time in JFK, we went to pick up our rented car from the rental car
park.
We drove to
Syracuse over 5 hours, battling jet lag and trying to assimilate to American
time zone with a 12 hours difference.
Route from
10 to 17 October.
Route from
17 to 23 October
We rented a
car, Hyundai Tucson from Dollar Rental.
What and where is New England
Nestled away in the
northeastern corner of the States, New England is made up of Connecticut,
Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Each state
boasts its own array of amazing historical sights and scenic spots
As the region was one of the first parts of the United
States to be settled, there are lots of monuments and museums
that look back at its rich past, and New England is also renowned as being the
birthplace of the American Revolution.
While much of its landmass is made up of picturesque countryside
and rural areas, numerous hills and mountain ranges dot its six states. Its
long and scenic Atlantic coastline is home to some fantastic cities and towns,
such as Boston, Providence, and Portland.
Due to its astounding natural sights – which include the White
Mountains, Cape Cod’s beautiful beaches and Acadia National Park – New England
is also a fantastic place to explore the great outdoors, with hiking, camping,
and skiing among its most popular activities. Indeed many people head to New
England in the autumn months for its fantastic fall foliage when the whole
region is coated in a majestic sea of yellows, oranges and reds.
Why is this place call New England?
It is called New England because it was the first part of the US
where people from England, including the Pilgrim Fathers, began to settle in
the 17th century.
