HERMANUS TO
CAPE TOWN
Day 10
We stayed in a family run B & B called Potting Shed. It was comfortable and cozy.
Today we
did half day trekking in Fernkloof Nature Reserve which was just a few km north of Hermanus. we had a great time appreciating the beautiful nature of South Africa.
Fernkloof Nature Reserve is located on the
Kleinrivier Mountains above Hermanus in the Western Cape Province. There are
several hiking trails up her e to see over 1300 species of plant. The trail we
walked was picturesque, like walking in a giant garden with beautiful wild
flowers.
Our next
destination was Stoney Point Penguin Colony. Here we saw thousands of penguins packed closely on this beautiful and scenic beach.
Continuing our journey northward, we drove pass miles of pristine coastline, with the Atlantic Ocean waves pounding the rocky shores. And inland, the rolling mountains covered in green vegetation was really breathtaking.
Stoney Point to Rooi-Els
Rooi-Els to Strand
After the town of Strand, we drove pass the outskirt of Cape Town and we can see the not so pleasant sight of shacks and small houses belonging to black Africans community.
We returned to Holiday Inn Express which is located in a main shopping area call Canal Walk.
At the hotel entrance, something unexpected happened. While opening the car boot, a sudden gust of wind was so strong that it unhinged the boot, slammed the car rear window and shattered the glass. We were shocked. The car rental company immediately sent a replacement car to us.
They next morning, we left Cape Town.
