CAPE TOWN-DEC 2005
Day 5
3 Dec
Driving
from Cape Town to Mossel Bay via Steenbras, Swellendam
This morning, we embarked on a 5 hours driving journey to Mossel Bay.
Our route on Highway 2 took us through rolling green pastures of hills and valleys. We didn’t see any large-scale agricultural farms as in many other countries. Neither were there any cattle or sheep farms.
There were many small native African settlements along the route. It is obvious the accommodation are not comparable to the residences of the whites. Understandably, colonialism and apartheid policy had created this wealth divide.
We had lunch at Swellendam and we saw a majestic white church.
Mossel Bay is harbour town rich in maritime history and is the start of the Garden Route.
After 5 hours of driving, we arrived at Mossel Bay. We stayed the night at a beach front hotel named Monro Manor Guest House. The rooms were elegantly furnished and cozy to stay, with spectacular ocean view. Definitively a nice place for a family stay.
