NEW ZEALAND
SOUTH ISLAND
Day 10
28 Nov 1999
Fox Glacier (Māori: Te Moeka o Tuawe)[1] is a 13-kilometre-long (8.1 mi)
temperate maritime glacier located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.[2] Like nearby Franz Josef Glacier, Fox Glacier is one of the most accessible
glaciers in the world, with a terminal face as low as 300 m above sea level,
close to the village of Fox Glacier. It is a major tourist attraction and about 1000
people daily visit it during high tourist season.(Wikipedia)
Start point where we hiked up the mountain slope
We joined a guide tour. First we hiked up the mountain and then entered the glacier midway and generally walked downslope the glacier. It was really an eye opener and thrilling adventure for the family.
