Somosir  Island, Lake Toba

This morning, we took a ferry trip across the crystal clear water of Lake Toba to Somosir Island, a large volcanic island that is located in the middle of Lake Toba.

                                                                 

                                          

                                           

                                          

                                             

                                                                       

                                          

                                                                              

Sasomsir Island is the centre of the Batak Tobanese culture. Today we visited Tomok Village to see the Batak Tobanese way of life, culture and the traditional roofed houses.                                              

                                               

We went to Ambarita, another Batak Tobanese village to see the ancient King’s house and other historical buildings.

                                                   

                                                   

We drove back to Medan and stayed Emerald Garden for the next 2 nights.
