Bagan is a
historical city scattered with over 5000 temples, stupas and Pagodas covering
an area of 40 sq. km. The fascinating place was called Pagan in the past and it
was built between the 9th and 13th century. It was the
capital of the Kingdom of Pagan in which some 50 Buddhist kings ruled the Pagan
Dynasty.
Dhammayangyi

Ananda Pagoda built around 1105 is one of the most beautiful, revered and well preserved temples. Most distinct feature is golden hti or umbrella on the top of the pagoda. It stands out brightly in the skyline of Bagan.
Thatbyinnyu

There were
just too many pagodas spread across the brown and dusty plains of Bagan. It was
impossible to remember the name of all the pagodas. But it was truly a spectacular
view and most impressive testament to the deep religiosity and devotion of the
people and rulers of Pagan Dynasty.
On the pagoda terrace we saw sunset over Bagan
