Day 3
I woke up to the birds' morning bugle. But throughout the night, a chorus from the forest symphony played by the various insect and nocturnal creatures filled the air. It was like my childhood days in Sembawang. I drove around Khao Sok after breakfast. There were rubber and palm oil plantations.
The is also a Buddhist cave temple nearby
Jungle Trekking was my next activity. It was a 6 km track but on gravel road for tourist. For trekking deeper into the jungle, a guide is mandatory.
The previous evening, a herd of wild elephants came to forage the forest, feeding on the stem of a particular palm. Leaving behind uneaten leaves and big elephant faeces.
Final point was the Bang Hua Rat Waterfall. Because now is the end of the dry season, there's insufficient water to create the fall.
After lunch at the village, it was time to leave Khao Sok. I drive to Takua Pa.
This town has very rich history. It used to be a very important mining town and many Chinese came and prospered. Today, many of the shophouses have Chinese characteristics, like are traditional Chinese names. talisman and altars on pillars for prayers to heaven.
Many of the shophouses seem unoccupied or disuse.
There are also dialect clans associations. Always proud to see a Hainan Association.
