Day 9

Ko Lanta

The rented car was returned in Krabi Airport.

The fully packed minibus left at 9.30 for the 1.5 hour journey to Ko Lanta. The minibus needed a be ferried across the sea to the island. The minibus provided door to door service and dropped me off at Lanta Marina Resort.

Air-conditioning is not possible because the walls and flooring are porous. Mosquito net was provided. I last used the mozzie net when I was a child.

Ko Lanta is a very laid back island. It's a great place to be away from the other bustling tourist beaches. This accommodation is rather run down but otherwise still provides a feel of tranquillity and serenity, especially watching the sea from the balcony.

The afternoon in Lanta was burning hot and best was to stay indoors. Around 5 pm, I took a stroll in Ko Lanta Phra Ae beach. There were many people on the beach.

It was nice walking on the beach and getting my feet wet.

There are many resorts and hotels along this stretch of the beach.

I also watch sunset from Phra Ae beach.

The main road was dusty, sidewalks were uneven. The houses on both sides of the road was untidy. Traffic were light, mostly motorbikes plying the road. Petrol was sold in bottles.
