Day 9

Evora to Algarve Olhao

Today we are driving south towards Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal.

First stop was a ancient town of Beja with long history. One of the most prominent landmarks here is Castelo de Beja.

Former " Our Lady Mercy hospital" is now a museum holding the remains of another church after the earthquake

Our journey continued for another hour and a half to another town, Odeleite and we stop by for lunch.


From here to drive through narrow roads over undulating terrain. The vegetation were dried and mostly brownish. 








We arrived at Tavira, a town with rich history along the southern coast. Many tourists flocked here. The prominent landmarks is the Roman Castle of Tavira that lies in the centre of town.

Near the Castle is Church of Saintt Mary of the Castle. 



In the town Centre, the prominent landmark is Tavira Old bridge than span over Gilao River.

From Tavira, we drove to Olhao and stayed there for a night.
