Portugal Day 3, Sept 2024

22nd Sept 2024

Day 3

Belem

We took a 20 minutes tram ride to Belem tower (Torres de Belem).

Belem Tower is a 16th century fort that served as point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers as well as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon and a symbol of Portuguese power.

Jeronimos Monastery was overcrowded and we skipped the interior as the waiting time was too long.

Belem town is flooded with tourists.

After lunch we headed back to Lisbon and tour Alfama District, one of the oldest in Lisbon.

Here, from Santa Luzia viewpoint, a beautiful view of Lisbon

And viewed  Se De Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral) built in 1150.

Riding on Tram 15 from Praca da Figueira to Belem in the morning.
