Day 5
Porto
We will be sightseeing Porto from the bus, tram, boat and on foot. That way, we can see Porto for what it is. For the train ride, from Metro station Faria Guimaraes and exited at Sao Bento Station. It was a wet day as we walked around Sao Bento.
At Sao Bento, we took bus No. 500 to Tram Terminus Passeio Alegre, near the Duoro River bank. It was raining and couldn't take any photo from the bus.
Passeio Alegre is the starting point of Tram line 1. This old historical tram chugged along the Duoro River and terminate at Infante.
The tram terminated at Infante. Nearby is an Unesco site, Church of St Francis and the Museum. The displays in the museum is very enriching.
The interior of the Church of St Francis is so opulent and majestic. The architecture with the elaborate carvings and sculptures in gold colour are stunning.
From the River Cruise jetty, we went for a river cruise on Douro River that flow through Porto. From the river, the view of the city of Porto is unique, picturesque and charming.
After the cruise, we had lunch and walked around Riberia, and old part of Porto with plenty of history.
Riberia is one of the old neighbourhood of Porto. It's very lively. The cobbled stone roads are very narrow and some have steep gradient.
Last sight for the day was "Monumento aos Herois" near Metro station Casa da Musica.
