Porto Pinhau Belmonte
Our next itineraries are in Central Portugal. The drive inland took us through the Douro Valley where huge vineyards where grape vines are planted in neat rows on mountain slopes. The grapes harvest season is over.
Douro River flow through the valleys. The scenery along the river is beautiful, the green hills dotted with vineyards. Cruise ships and luxury yachts were observed to ply this water way.
Our first stop in the heart of wine country is a small lovely town Pinhau. Here we visit Quinta da Roeda Winery.
We walked around Pinhao town and had Portuguese food for lunch .
After lunch, we drove to Belmonte, through winding roads across mountain ranges.
We arrived at Belmonte and stayed in historical old Portuguese Village house. The owner named in Isabel de Gouveia.
Many old houses still existed along narrow and hilly cobbled stone streets. Walking through this narrow streets was an enriching experience. There is a strong Jewish presence in this village, observed from the "Star of David" on the houses and shops.
There is a chapel as well as a church in this old historical village.
There's Belmonte Castle and Church just next to our accommodation.
