Day 9
Mang Den
Mang Den is a cool clime, serene mountain town perfect for ecotourism, but still not a must see place in Vietnam. The nature is alluring with Waterfalls, lakes, rivers, villages, terraces lush green valleys surrounded by mountain. Its home to many ethnic minority in Vietnam.
There are no local tour agency in this town. The only way to move around this town is prearranged private tour. Luckily, I managed to get one through the driver that drove from Kon Tum.
First stop in to see a communal house in Konbring village.
Next stop. We viewed the small Dak Ke Lake.
We went to the Dak Ke Waterfall but the trek was too far for my legs.
Our next itinerary was the Buddhist Temple, Chua Khanh Lam set in a sprawling area on a hill top surrounded by pines forest.
Our next stop was the Pa Sy Waterfall.
After Pa Sy Waterfall, we drove to village. Kon Tu Rang. To go down to the scenic valley required a kilometre walk down steep slope. I opted to pay for a motor bicycle ride down and return.
It's very picturesque the rice terraces, the rivers with the boulders.
The suspension bridge across River Dak Bla was awesome.
These little huts are rice granaries for storing the harvested grains. Each family has one.
l had Vietnamese lunch with my guide Fuong, very friendly but English is deficient.
After lunch we headed to the Highland Viewpoint near a mountains pass to take a panoramic view of Mang Den.
The last itinerary was a visit to a ethnic minority village Kon Vong Kia, driving on undulating terrain on very narrow roads.
The rice had just been harvested but the field still look yellow because the rice stalks were still there. Nevertheless the view of rice fields is so scenic.
Villagers drying their rice grains in the hot sun.
In the evening, I walked to an ethnic village night market to see the local food fare and products.
