Kampong Phluk Floating Village

Boat Tour
The
floating village along the river is situated on the north shore of fresh water
Tonle Sap Lake. It has the largest mangrove forest in the region. Fishing is
the main livelihood of the people in this village. They live on houses with high stilts to cater for the rising and ebbing water level.
On the road
to Kampong Phluk.
View along
the muddy river.
Kampong Phluk is unique because it has a very large mangrove forest. We took a tour of this flooded forest on a small boat rowed by local. Our boat was manned by a mother and her young son. Most of the boats were manned by women.

Walking in
the village to view the economic activities. There is a school and temple.
There is not cars in the village. Life here is definitely harsh and the future for the younger generation don't seem to be promising.
