CHINA-DAY 7--N XINJIANG—FUKANG TO URUMQI

TIANCHI HEAVENLY LAKE and CULTURAL SHOW

Fellow tour members were now fully acquainted and starting to enjoy their company. Our tour guide was very caring and considerate and we all were very happy.

The bus journey to Heavenly Lake was under an hour. Along the way, we stopped by a Kazakh Folk Village to look at its exhibit, had tea and did some photo shots in traditional clothing.

Thereafter, the bus drove on winding road to this high altitude lake, elevation about 1900m. At the coach park, we were transported up to the lake by electric tram. 

                      

Heavenly Lake (Tianchi) is located on Heavenly Mountain (Tianshan). The highest mountain is Bogda Peak.

We took an hour long boat cruise on Tianchi. The water is crystal clear and clean and surrounded by alpine trees with layer of mountains from a far, which looks like the Swiss Alps. There are also many temples on the hills.

There was a live cultural performance near Heavenly Lakes.

Today was the last day of the North Xinjiang tour. We watched a grand cultural show cum dinner in Urumqi. Tomorrow the silk road portion will start and end in Lanzhou.
