USA-YELLOWSTONE-DAY 1-OLD FAITHFUL-MAY 2014

Day 1

18 may 2014

Yellowstone National Park.     Old Faithful and around

Yellowstone National Park is about 3500 sq. mile, sitting atop a volcanic hot spot. In the park, they are spectacular canyons, gushing geysers, hot springs, big lake, rivers and lush forests home to hundreds of animal species like bears, wolves, bison, elk and antelope.  The general elevation of this park is around 5000 to 8000 feet.  Because of high altitude, part of this park is still covered with snow during our visit in May.

We drove north towards the Yellowstone National Park passing through the Continental Divide. The weather was chilling and the snow on road sides had yet to melt. We bought park passes and entered Yellowstone. We intended to spend 4 days to enjoy this wonderful park.
