Kuitun to
Buerjin
The bus
ride today was about 6 hours over 460 km.
The journey took us through the edge of Gobi Desert. The highway was very impressive and the ride
was comfortable. Along the way we saw
the vastness of Xinjiang and the semi arid desert land with mostly brownish
scrubs. It was nevertheless beautiful and refreshing that we normally do not
see.
Views from the bus:
There were also some plots of irrigated farmland as well as refinery.
The main itinerary today was the Ghost City in Wuerhe near Karamay. The eerie noise the wind makes as it blow through these large and unique rocks landforms prompted its name. These unique landforms were carved by the intense wind that swept across the desert. The movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed here.
The site is very vast and all sightseeing were on park trams
Note from the site: Millions years ago, Ghost City was a fresh water lake surrounded by forest with animal and birds.
