YOGYAKARTA- BOROBUDUR-JUL 2014

 YOGYAKARTA-BOROBUDUR

This was a short trip with 5 nights stay in Yogyakata Melia Purosani Hotel. From here we saw Borobudur, Prambanu Temple, Deing Plateau and walk in the city of Yogyakarta. We travelled on Silk Air.

2 July 2014

Borobudur Temple was a Buddhist Temple built around the 8th century on central Java. It is the world largest Buddhist temple consisting of nine stacked platform, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated inside a perforated stupas. There is a popular belief that the temples were abandoned when the local converted to Islam in the 15th century. It was rediscovered by Dutch in the jungle that  led to restoration first by the European and later by the Indonesian government collaborating with UNESCO.

We arrived very early, around 7 a.m. and the air was cool and misty
