Florence
We took the
train from Roma Termini to Florence Centre Train Station. It was a 3 hours
train journey. In Florence, we stayed at Hotel Mary Stella for 2 nights.
Florence is
best viewed from the ground and most of the attractions are easily accessed by foot. We started from the hotel.
Basilica of
Santo Maria Novella
Basilica di San Lorenzo
Capella
Medicee
Florence
Cathedral is the most prominent landmark in Florence and the buildings are
completed in 1434. The dome of the cathedral dominates the skyline of Florence.
The
cathedral complex consists of the Dumo, Giotto Campanile and the Baptistery of
St. John
The façade are just awesome. The craftsmanship and creativity are breathtaking.
Our time in Florence was short and did not go inside the cathedral to view.
Another place I cannot recalled
Jewish Synagogue
Santo Croce
– the Temple of Italic Glories and Piazza Santo Croce
Arno River
and walking towards Piazzale Michelangelo
Porto San Niccolo 5383 86 88)
Piazzale Michelangelo. Up here we had a panoramic view of the city of Florence. Its skyline has been carefully preserved to keep away modern high rise buildings.
