NW VIETNAM- HANOI TO MAI CHAU- AUG 2015

 

Day 1 of NW Vietnam Tour

Hanoi to Mai Chau

This morning we met our guide Mike and driver Minh. They came with a very spacious and comfortable Ford MPV 4WD. After exchanging pleasantries and the payment, we began on our week- long North West tour of Vietnam.

The road from Hanoi to Hoa Binh was on upgraded Highway 6. The landscape is dotted with villages and agricultural land. We stopped by a Hmong tribe for a stretch and then another break at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley.

After lunch we trekked around Mai Chau village to enjoy the green beautiful paddy field and watching the farmers at work. For a nature lover like me, it was really therapeutic and refreshing.

This valley are populated with Thai people and we booked our stay in a Thai family house in Ban Lac, Mai Chau. It was a Home stay without the luxury of hotel. Dinner was prepared by the family.

Walking around the centre of this small hamlet. There are other tourist accommodation around this area.

The next morning, we woke up early and took a walk around the village. It was cooling and we could see some low cloud around the hills.
