NW VIETNAM-DIEN BIEN PHU TO LAI CHAU- AUG 2015

Day 4 of Tour

After breakfast, we began our journey to Lai Chau City.  It’s about 4.5 hour’s journey over 200km. Along the way we saw beautiful rice terraces. The roads generally hug the valley floor, running close to the river.  Halfway through the journey we cross the mountain range.

 The second half of the driving was over hilly and mountainous terrain as we approached the northern border between Vietnam and China. The northern hilly regions are generally populated by indigenous hill tribes.

There was road upgrading on our route.

We crossed the Nam Na River.

We visited another tea plantation on the hill top overlooking the city of Lai Chau

We arrived in Lai Chai in the evening and surprised to see that the city is fairly big and developed.  Nearby  the city is a very large lake. We stayed in Muong Thanh Hotel.
